Founded in 1961, the Reno County Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Reno County. Through its two museums the Reno County Museum and Strataca we aim inspire curiosity, connect our community to its past, and preserve our shared heritage for future generations.
Strataca is an underground museum where history, geology, mining, and science come to life. Since opening to the public in 2007, it has inspired visitors from around the world through immersive experiences that explore the unique stories and natural wonders found 650 feet beneath the Kansas prairie.
